Background

My interest in cars started very early with building plastic models and through high school I had to learn first hand how to keep my 1966 Mustang on the road. I grew up in Ann Arbor and graduated from Huron High School. I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school to be a mechanic and served four years active duty and four more in the reserves. I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Once I left active duty I went to Universal Technical Institute in Chicago to learn more about automotive service and repair. I graduated Valedictorian and was accepted into the Porsche PTAP program in Atlanta, GA. I then got lucky enough to be hired at Porsche of Ann Arbor where I spent 7 years learning and servicing Porsche cars.

Owner / Business Manager / Team Builder

Introduction

Other than my time in the Air Force, I’ve been an Ann Arbor / Saline resident since 1971. I had dreams and visions of owning my own business back in my high school years. In 1980, one year following my Air Force tour, I reached my high school dream of business owner as an owner/operator of a Shell Auto Care on the east side of Ann Arbor. In 2002, after 22 years as a Shell owner/operator, I bought the building in Ann Arbor on Hoover. I sold the Shell Service Station business and moved my auto repair portion to the new “Hoover Street Auto Repair” on Hoover. In 2013, I expanded to a second repair facility, Stadium Auto Service”, focused on German Automotive service and in 2016, a third repair facility, State Street Auto Service, focused on light & medium duty diesel trucks.

Experience
  • Owner/Operator providing Auto Repair in Ann Arbor since 1980
  • 2016 opened third location “State Street Auto Service”
  • 2013 opened second location “Stadium Auto Service”
  • 2002 sold the gas business & opened “Hoover Street Auto”
  • 1980 started as a Shell Auto Care owner/operator
  • Served in the US Air Force
Training - Education - Certificates
  • Northwestern Michigan College
  • Huron High School Graduate
Background

During my free time I enjoy golf, tennis, water and snow skiing. I’m also a beginner in ballroom dancing and love to sing… not to be confused with a “talent to sing” … however, I do great job with background vocals for familiar songs on the radio.
